Summer Tablescape Masterclass with Belgravia

Summer Tablescape Masterclass with Belgravia

I created this table for a masterclass in tablescaping at the exquisite Bonadea store in Belgravia. The brand means ‘The Good Goddess’, after the Roman deity, and it certainly merits the name. From the ceiling plasterwork with 3D florals and butterflies to the beehive shelves, it's utterly breathtaking and so much more than a shop.

High Summer Tablescape

This masterclass was in July so the table captured my vision of high summer. It referenced hand-painted paradisiacal designs from Bonadea, with birds of paradise, butterflies and palm fronds as hero motifs. The table evoked a tropical vibe through the lens of Slim Aarons, with the pink houses of Barbados and Princess Margaret's Mustique on the moodboard.

I love the way the sandstone pink of the shop's decor and marble dining table gave this tablescape a sun-bleached vibe. It is rare for me to not use a tablecloth but when the table is this exquisite, it would be a waste to cover it up!

"The flowers were seasonal - an ethos important to me - rather than a more literal tropical display. Dahlias, roses and sweet peas in the peach, pink and sage colour palette of the tableware."
