Blue Pottery is one of the city’s most distinctive craft traditions, known for its luminous glazes and intricate hand-painted designs. Unlike most ceramics, it is not made from clay but from a mixture including quartz powder and Fuller’s earth. Each piece takes over 45 steps and up to 25 days to complete - a marvel!
With pupils from Vimukti Sanstha, I visited Ram Gopal Blue Pottery - one of Jaipur’s most respected Blue Pottery studios - to experience the process first-hand, guided by artisan Garima Saini.
