This was the first dinner party on the terrace of our apartment in Jaipur, India. The walls were freshly painted pink for the Pink City! The tablescape was in my favourite colour combination: pink and green. It began with a classic block print I found locally...

Pink & Green Tablescape
I wanted the table to be quintessentially Jaipur. The block print depicted classic symmetrical florals in fuchsia and sage; I commissioned a set of cushions and napkins with scalloped edges in fuchsia thread.
Late autumn bougainvillea was blooming across the city; I used them on the table just like I saw on the streets. The table was huge so I needed an extra long tablecloth underneath - this is cutwork made in Barmer, Rajasthan where the technique originates. I love the way the pattern shows through.
"Borrowed, bought or made bespoke, sourcing the pieces for this tablescape was a steep learning curve for me after just a few weeks in a new city. But what a special (and fast!) way to get to know a place - from its flower market (the Phool Mandi by Govind Dev Ji temple) to its craftsmen."
