Red Tablescape at Jamavar

Red Tablescape at Jamavar

From the moment I sat beneath the sparkling ceilings of Jamavar Jaipur at The Leela Palace Jaipur, illuminated only by candles and its 350,000 hand-cut thikri mirrors, I dreamed of arranging a table here. What a place to debut this berry red collection.

The restaurant itself has been newly relaunched as an ode to the royal kitchens of India. I love its celebration of both cuisine and craft — even the menus are hand-etched and carved, inspired by the Mughal art of Parchinkari.

With a setting this majestic, you can keep a tablescape simple, leaning into the deep berry red.  Red garden roses, cut with the longest stems possible and placed in tall glasses from Ecru Jaipur give a sculptural height to the table. For the centrepiece, cut pomegrantes and roses layered up in a two-tier étagère.

Burgundy taper candles from Candle Flair were a perfect match then a flourish of tealights in votives to finish, shimmering against the table's silverware.

Every corner of this restaurant has its own mood and magic. I couldn't resist setting up a table for two - a time where placemats come into their own. These berry red ones add a splash of colour against the silverware.
