Set The Table
Rainbows With Olivia Rubin
The moment my friend Olivia Rubin released her new homeware collection I found a date for a dinner party. The tablecloth, with its rainbow edge, was my starting point for the colour palette. I love how the centre is white - the blank canvas for your tablescape - then there's a whole party going on the skirt of the table.
"From the jug to the plates, it's utter joy as a set but I can see even just the side plates perking up a breakfast table."
For the flowers, my heroes were these huge pink jacorma peonies as well as lemon and fuchsia helichrysum (everlasting flowers). More pops of yellow from tanactum and then I used the best of a British summer meadow: matricaria, bupleurum, greenbell, ammi and some beautiful eryngium for texture (looks like a thistle).
I painted a rainbow border around our menus to match - highlight of the dinner being a chocolate meringue mousse cake which is like a chocolate nemesis but takes half the time!
