Styling At Diggi Palace

Styling At Diggi Palace

I remember my first visit to Diggi Palace in 2022 - the arches of the Durbar Hall captivated me with their scale and colour. There is an elegant restraint to the space; the soft mint interior feels all the more luminous set against the white exterior.

As soon as the first samples of Jaipur Blossom arrived, with their rich greens and gentle bursts of colour, I knew this 19th century palace would be a natural setting.

The stars aligned in more ways than one. Gaurangini Singh, a member of the Diggi family, shares my love of table styling and brought her own instinctive flair to the scheme. We let the architecture lead - placing the table in perfect symmetry beneath the arches - before layering in colour, much as it appears within the print itself.

Green apples, grapes and guava formed a simple centrepiece, while a single pink gerbera stood tall beside the candles.

The joy of this print lies in its versatility. Multicoloured placemats sit confidently against the tablecloth, adding a new dimension alongside the matching napkins, while champagne coupes introduce a soft note of rose pink that echoes the flowers.

With its vibrant green block-printed centre and border of classical vases brimming with summer blooms, this tablecloth feels both abundant and composed. The vase motif and trailing central print are hand block printed from Rosanna’s drawings of hydrangea, pear blossom and tiny wren birds.

The drawings are traced and carved into wooden blocks using techniques passed down through generations. Each piece is then hand block printed in Jaipur by the master artisans with whom Rosanna works.

Printed by hand, no two are ever identical. Subtle variations in pigment and placement are the hallmark of true block printing - a heritage craft requiring both precision and rhythm.

It felt a privilege to set this table within such a historic space, and all the more so to do so alongside Gaurangini, whose fresh eye brought a new energy to the designs. You can find out more about stays and events at the palace hotel here.
