Pink tablescape with roses and bougainvillea

Styling The Jaipur Bloom Collection

This tablescape will always hold a special place in my heart. Not only was it for our farewell dinner after nearly 6 months of living in Jaipur, but it was using my own designs. It felt surreal to be folding napkins and puffing cushions with my own design, after years of setting tables with all manner of different styles - all of which loved but none that I could call my own.

Set The Table

Jaipur Bloom Tablescape

I felt so nostalgic creating this table! The pink terrace of our apartment in Jaipur is full of my favourite memories - from the feat of organising our first dinner party to both of my daughters' birthday parties, not to mention afternoons watching them play out here. But even more significant was the fact that I was laying a table with my own designs - a first!

The Napkins

Painted blooms in each corner, making them beautiful with any fold.

From the fold of a napkin to bud vases, I tried out a few different styling ideas before settling on this so I hope it is helpful when it comes to laying the table yourself. First of all, the overall colour scheme. These pieces bring together my favourite colour combination: pink and green. I echoed that across all of the elements of the tablescape: from pink wine glasses to fuchsia and geranium coloured grosgrain ribbons to tie the cutlery.

Menu with rose paintings and calligraphy

Painting menus was how I rediscovered my love of art. These menus are full of bougainvillea and roses, and the same is painted on the taper candles too. I used Caran D'Ache pencils for the former and acrylics for the latter. If you order from the Jaipur Bloom collection, you will receive a menu just like this with your order; I'm going to calligraphy a menu for my first 5 orders (the customers will be informed via email and will need to send me their chosen copy).

For the flowers, it had to be roses and bougainvillea to match the print. The larger roses are from the Phool Mandi in the Old City, along with some spray roses, garden roses and a few ranunculus from our terrace. All of them are arranged in a mix of jars, votives and even old glass pepper pots. It's the mix of heights and styles that give the table movement.
