This unique space at London's iconic Dorchester hotel was designed by theatrical set designer Oliver Messel in the 1920s. It is in fact four rooms complete with a roof terrace and fountain.
The decor inspired the colour palette for the tablescape: delicious shades of apple, sage and pear green with pops of lemon yellow and gold like in the hand-painted murals.
Held in late February, the first signs of spring were showing in British flowers. My heroes were white and yellow Icelandic poppies with plump-petalled Hanoi ranunculus as side character. I added hyacinth and lilac for scent. Finally blossom, astrantia, parrot tulips, guelder rose and hellebore (winter belles so they last well) as fillers and foliage.
